1 Tip for Leaving the 9-5 Grind to Become a Professional Blogger

I know what it feels like to work a job that you hate.

Sums up my life from my mid 20’s to early 30’s.

I changed course eventually, becoming a full time, pro blogging, island hopping dynamo.

I even wrote an eBook on how to escape a 9-5 job that you hate:

How to Escape a 9-5 Job that You Hate

One idea I discuss in the eBook: fan the flames of your dream.

Or, follow your freedom.

This is one of the best tips for leaving behind a job you hate working to become a full time, professional blogger.

But following this tip feels challenging because making freeing and not fear-driven choices separates you from the herd of most folks, who do what they do just to remain in Survival Mode.

Freedom

Designing your life around the concept of freedom is your first step to take. If you do not love your job, you are obviously working the job because you fear losing money, or losing your home, or losing health benefits. I get that, because I have been there and done that.

At that point you need to create an exit plan.

Set a timeline for building your blogging business part time while working your full time job. Could be 6 months. Could be 12 months. The key is to begin engineering your life not around the fear of loss, but around the idea of freedom.

The Ultimate Turning Point

Most people screw up; they believe hard work marks the difference between employees and entrepreneurs. Then they wonder why after trying to start a side hustle for months or years, nothing happens.

Here’s why: these people struggle because on a deeper energetic level they choose fear over freedom. This lot makes choices based predominantly on the fear of loss versus being based on the love of freedom.

I know many part time bloggers who do not like their 9-5 jobs. Said bloggers publish 1, 2 or 3 posts, being filled with inspiration, joy, enthusiasm and happiness, ready and raring to shock the world and to become a full time, pro blogger in no time.

Most of these folks blow their wad, quit blogging for weeks or months, or fail to ever blog again.

Why?

Fear calls their shots. Not freedom. Saturday night rolls around. Instead of sitting down for 2 hours to write their blog post for the week (further promoting their freedom through blogging, taking another step toward becoming a full time pro blogger and leaving their 9-5 job behind) this crowd fears the loss of hitting the bars, or going out to eat, or hitting the club, or watching the ball game with their kids.

These bloggers who cave in to fear become after thoughts in their blogging niche of choice, flaming out and failing, and then wonder why they struggled.

They chose fear over freedom.

But the select few who make freeing choices predominantly – despite feeling the fear of loss – become the bloggers who retire from the 9-5 for good, to become full time, pro bloggers.

Forget about hard work. Forget about smart work. Choose freedom over everything else. Make the freeing choice. Even if you feel terrified to make the freeing choice. This is how you baby step your way from disgruntled 9-5 employee to full time pro blogger, and this is also how you make the transition within years, not decades.

Video

I filmed a video as a Facebook Live Broadcast to help explain this concept in greater detail.

The biggest gift you can ever give yourself is the gift of freedom. Once you make freeing choices persistently you will do inspired things with your life, being free, having fun, spreading love and inspiring folks to live their dreams.
