5 Essential Digital Marketing Podcasts That All Marketers and Business Owners Should Be Listening To

By Lilach Bullock

Digital marketing is an ever-changing, ever-evolving medium; just looking back to when I first started with digital marketing, a little over 10 years ago, it’s a completely different medium. There is always new technology popping up, and consumers’ behaviour and expectations are changing almost by the year.

So how do you stay on top of all these changes? How do you keep up with the latest tech, social networks, tools, and so on? Blogs are always a great way to keep up—but, there’s only so much time in a day. Podcasts, on the other hand, can be listened to when you’re on your commute, when you’re in your car going to a meeting, and can always be in your earphones when you need them.

In this blog post, I want to share my five favourite digital marketing podcasts for marketers and business owners.

Social media marketing

1. Social Media Lab, by Agorapulse

The Social Media Lab is a very interesting, relatively new project, created by the guys and gals behind popular social media management tool Agorapulse. Its aim is to help businesses (and marketers) get as much ROI as possible from their social media marketing by investigating known media practices in order to find out which actually work—and which don’t (think mythbusters, only for social media marketing).

Every month, about $15,000 gets invested in these experiments, and then the results are shared and discussed on the podcast. For example, in the past, they’ve looked into whether cross-posting from Instagram to Facebook can get you more engagement, whether you can really get 100 new genuine Instagram followers in 24 hours, and whether posting with third party apps has any negative effect on your Facebook reach.

Where to listen/subscribe to the Social Media Lab: Listen to it on iTunes, Stitcher, and on their website.

2. Social Pros podcast, by Jay Baer and Adam Brown

The Social Pros podcast is hosted by some of the biggest names in digital marketing: Jay Baer of Convince & Convert and Adam Brown of Salesforce. With these two at the helm, you just know this podcast is going to be good—and thankfully, it really is.

The podcast runs on a weekly basis, for over two years now; the main thing that makes it stand out (except for the awesome hosts) is that a top social media marketer is always invited. In the past, there have been people on the show who have worked for some of the biggest companies in the world, such as Ford, Dell, Krispy Kreme, and IBM—just to name a few. Basically, you get to hear and learn how to boost your social media presence from the best marketers in the world, as well as keep up to date with social media and digital marketing trends and developments.

Where to listen/subscribe to the Social Pros podcast: Get it on their website, or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher.

3. PNR: This Old Marketing Podcast|Content Marketing, with Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose

Joe Pulizzi and Robert Rose really need no introduction; the two have been at the forefront of content marketing
