When I lived in a remote Costa Rican jungle I had to walk 3 hours through deep, remote, sometimes dangerous terrain to get into town. Yeah that’s me in the picture above.
Landslides, venomous scorpions and snakes, bullet ants and poison dart frogs met us at times, adding a harrowing element to our journey.
Kelli and I even sank knee deep in mud one time in the jungle, yanking each other out of the seeming quick sand.
But when we made it through this gateway, we tasted sweet modern life. Restaurants. Super markets. Food! We had to put in the work to travel from a basic shack with an outhouse (and no electricity or internet) to reach civilization.
Making money through your blog is similar. You have an intent to make money blogging. The journey from intent to actual profits involves a series of gateway activities through which you persistently engage to eventually earn that blogging scrilla. This work can be challenging at times but ya gotta see it through to profit online.

Help people on Quora. Be of service. Encourage subscribers and followers and customers to flow your way.
I spend a few minutes on Quora daily. As of today I have over 120,000 views on my answers. That’s a lotta views. That’s some potential profits.
Be of service on the network. Share value, become valuable. This rule applies to any online gateway but I have seen how being generous on Quora gives you access to a large, targeted audience in your niche of choice.
2: Promote Bloggers on Social Media
Promote bloggers on social media. Retweet their updates. Facebook Share their posts. Be generous.
Some bloggers will promote you steadily on social media, expanding your reach in a rocking way.
I aggressively retweet a slew of blogging tips and travel bloggers daily. Legions of blogging tips and travel bloggers retweet me. Give. Receive. Just share across a wide range of social media networks to work these gateways effectively.
3: Promote Bloggers through Your Blog
Linking in to other bloggers by features, mentions or via quick snippets helps me make friends with rocking bloggers. Said rocking bloggers promote me, helping me reach large, targeted audiences, increasing my blogging income.
Give to receive. Ya notice a theme here? 😉 Give freely, offering a spot on your blog to another blogger. Blogging buddies will do the same thing for you.

4: Run a Podcast
I publish my Blogging From Paradise Podcast on iTunes to help folks through a rocking creative medium.
Helping people via your voice adds a different, engaging element to your social media campaign.

5: Broadcast Live Videos
I am a live video nut. I admit it. I am officially addicted to this brilliant, engaging, profit-building medium.
Live video is the wave of the present and of the future because readers want human being bloggers more than ever. Sometimes folks see words on a screen or a smiling selfie but have a tough time making bonds between the words and selfie and the fact that we bloggers are human beings.
Enter live video.
I sell eBooks and audiobooks passively through the platform. I may cover a specific topic, like dangerous assumptions made about pro bloggers, link in to the corresponding eBook and boost sales through this creative, engaging medium.
