Recently I received an interesting report titled “Internationalising your brand in 2017.” It was commissioned by Arvato, a Germany-based media technology company, and produced by WBR Insights, a consulting firm.
The report is based on a survey of 200 decisionmakers at leading ecommerce retailers in the United States. It offers insights on how top American brands are planning to expand their business in Europe.
Internalization includes many things: language and currency localization, regulatory and pricing policy, payment methods, market preferences and trends, and security and automation technologies.
But cross-border ecommerce brands are especially concerned with:
- Finding a fulfillment partner that can provide an entire scope of services, to represent the brand.
- Partnering with a local company, for market expertise.
The market in Russia, according to the Arvato report, is number nine in the list of top expansion markets by U.S. brands. But small and midsized ecommerce merchants can expand into Russia, too, provided they master the local fulfillment and delivery challenges.
In this article, I will profile five Russian companies that provide fulfillment services to foreign manufacturers and retailers, including customs clearance, returns, and marketing support.
