Getting penalized for every petty crime or too frequently isn’t desired among the citizens. While in India, though the Government pushes everyone to use public transportation, the heights of population and uncomfortability in traveling with mass makes most of the citizens to use their vehicle.
And in an attempt to reduce road accidents and to save the country from pollution, the Government had done enough in penalizing them as everyone’s started taking the low priced fines for granted. Now, the government has come up with hard slaps to those who try continuing with breaking the rules.
All the general violations of traffic are now charges at 2x, 4x or even 8x as per the latest amendments of motor vehicle act. The latest bill, which is approved by the central government has gone effective from September 1 onwards.
Usage of Digilocker or mParivahan:
And to save themselves, people can show the documents of License, Registration certificate, Insurance, Pollution, etc from their issued certificates of mParivahan or Digilocker apps. This initiative is to push citizens into digitalization and to control violations seriously.
Digital documents from those apps don’t mean a scanned copy of those documents taken and stored by yourself, but rather original documents issued by the competent authority. The issuing authority has to be registered in the app and issue them. You can retrieve and store them offline (but with app) by logging in with your aadhar details and verifying them.
Well, a common incident in India which attracts fine very frequently is about driving without a helmet. Previously, it used to be Rs.100 and now it’s hiked to Rs.1,000. Paying via online payments later through apps or traffic portal shall attract further processing fees too. Other fines like driving without a license, incompetent to drive, drunken driving, triple riding, seatbelt fastening, over speeding, not leaving a way for emergency vehicles, etc have been tremendous. All of the previous fines have been doubled, tripled or even hiked to ten times in some particulars.
While everyone tries to avoid this by risky dodging from traffic polices, or going corruptive, clever ways are of using bicycles (for nearer distances) or holding competent documents in hand (or in App as said) are helpful.
