Until this morning, you couldn’t pay me to get hyped over a voice recording app. Somehow, though, Google has done that. At today’s Made By Google hardware event, the company showcased the new Recorder app that will come preloaded on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.
Inside the Recorder app, users who are recording audio can get real-time transcriptions of what’s being recorded, and once the audio is saved, you can search through your recordings for mentions of specific words. It’s very neat and the best way to see it in action is to watch Google’s demo below.
Best of all, Google then shows that all of the actions done with Recorder happen while the device is in Airplane mode, meaning all the of slick transcriptions and search capability is happening on-device.
It seems like a safe assumption that this app will make its way to other devices down the road.
