One of the most astounding Google Pixel 4 features is the astrophotography mode, using multiple exposures to create a four minute exposure of the night sky.

It’s an extremely cool feature in theory, but you won’t need to buy a Google Pixel 4 to get your hands on the mode. Google has announced that the astrophotography mode is indeed coming to the Pixel 3 series as well as the budget-focused Pixel 3a duo.

According to Android Police, the Pixel 4’s hardware makes it capable of shooting longer exposures than the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a series. So you can likely expect better results using the newer phone, but we’re still glad to see brand-new Google camera features coming to older devices.

This isn’t the only feature coming to the older phones, as Google told Android Police that Live Caption was coming to the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a too. Live Caption delivers captions to any local or web video viewed on a user’s phone, with the associated machine learning all done on-device too. This means you don’t need an internet connection to enjoy captions on your videos.

The outlet says Live Caption is coming to the older Pixel phones in December, so you won’t have much longer to wait. Hopefully we see the feature on third-party devices before the end of the year too, as Google advertised it as an Android 10 feature after all.
