BACOLOD CITY — A total of 22 trainees completed the Digital Jobs PH Technical Training Project conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Romeo Tome, provincial officer of DICT-Negros Occidental, said those who are graduating on Thursday attended the 35-day digital marketing and e-commerce course that began in September.
The course included a 14-day face-to-face training with partner-micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and 21 days of online session.
“During the online training session, the scholars were tasked to digitally promote the product and services of the partner-MSMEs,” Tome said.
He added that the trainees also promoted themselves as OFW Version 2 or online freelance workers.
Tome said the graduates passed the guidelines set, including the quality of their output, through assessment and evaluation.
The Digital Jobs PH Technical Training Project, which started in 2017, mainly aims to provide technical training to unemployed and financially unstable residents in the province, enabling them to land ICT-related jobs.
Aside from digital marketing and e-commerce, the project also offers six other courses, such as general virtual assistance, content writing, search engine optimization, and advertising, social media marketing, and advertising, graphic design, and web development.
In Negros Occidental, 24 scholars in San Carlos City and 22 others in Cadiz City have availed of the digital marketing and e-commerce course in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
After Kabankalan City, the project will also be implemented for 22 scholars in Escalante City this year.
In Kabankalan, the DICT partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry, which identified the partner-MSMEs and local government unit for naming the scholars, who should be 18 years old and above, at least high school graduates, and computer literate.
Tome said the main purpose of the project is job generation, noting that after graduation, scholars can be absorbed by MSMEs to continue promoting their products and services online, as well as develop and manage their websites. (PNA)
