With Halloween almost upon us, Facebook has released a range of new tools across their family of apps to help users get into the spirit of the event.
Get it, ‘spirit’… because ghosts… never mind.
First off, on Instagram, a new feature called ‘Super Zoom’ has been added to enhance your Instagram Stories and DMs.
“When you open the camera, you’ll see “Superzoom” next to “Boomerang” under the record button. Tap “Superzoom” and then tap record to automatically zoom in with suspenseful music.”
The music is indeed ‘suspenseful’, as demonstrated in this example.
You can Super Zoom on anything, adding a different angle to your content. The option is already proving popular, and will likely remain in high circulation long after Halloween – interesting to see Instagram adding in their own new formats, beyond Snapchat, which add to the Stories experience.
Instagram’s also providing Halloween-style face filters, which will be available through till November 1st.
And there are also Halloween-themed stickers which you can add to your posts, which are fairly standard, but still add something to your options.
Over on Facebook’s main app, they’re also providing some new options – you may have already seen these prompts appearing in your News Feed.
Switch over to the Facebook Camera and you’ll see a new set of Halloween masks and frames to use to enhance your images and videos.
While there are also new Halloween video masks you can use in your Facebook Live broadcasts.
And additional background options for your Facebook posts.
And finally, on Messenger, there’s a new set of Halloween masks and frames in the Messenger Camera, which you can use in regular messages or in Messenger Day.
Halloween is always a popular event on social, with a heap of posts and updates set to be uploaded on and around the event. And while these tools are Halloween-focused, Super Zoom, in particular, is an interesting addition which may stick around for some time.
