Modern Christmas Tree comes in last to the Shark Tank with a pitch about their bright and festive company that creates unique, contemporary acrylic trees. These trees come for costumers with an LED light, chandelier crystals, bulb ornaments and a mirror ball on an ornamotor.
Matthew Bliss started the company to pay homage to his grandfather who designed the original prototype in 1966. With a rather nice backstory, Modern Christmas Tree has currently sold to date close 2,000, all over the world and on nearly every continent.
Bliss has also created custom trees for the Disneyland Hotel, The Ritz Carlton, the Four Seasons, galleries, convention centers and malls. Besides growing their line with new designs, sizes and styles, Bliss is looking to establish facilities for Modern Christmas Tree in Europe and Australia.
The company originally only offered a full-sized, 7.5-foot hanging tree constructed from acrylic rings and glass chandelier crystals. Modern Christmas Trees now offers a tree that sits flush against the wall, a tabletop tree, and accessories like tree skirts and tree toppers.
In the end, Modern Christmas Tree earned a deal with Barbara.
Here are some reactions on social media to Modern Christmas Tree appearing on Shark Tank.

I don’t like that he was fretting over a few points. Lacks big picture.— David Blitz (@dblitz1969) December 4, 2017
Very nice! I can see them in malls all over America someday.

I guess I’m just an old soul, but I believe in an authentic Christmas tree when I’m getting ready for Christmas. And that would make it a tough sell for a lot of people. I get this guy’s passion, but it wouldn’t be for me. #SharkTank

Each week on “Shark Tank,” budding entrepreneurs have the opportunity to pitch their emerging businesses to multi-millionaire and billionaire investors, known as sharks: Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks; Daymond John, fashion mogul and founder of FUBU; Kevin O’Leary, self-proclaimed Mr. Wonderful and founder of O’Leary Financial Group; Barbara Corcoran, real estate maven; Lori Greiner, queen of QVC; and Robert Herjavec, technology guru and founder/CEO of the Herjavec Group.
Philanthropist and Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, Spanx founder Sara Blakely, Skinnygirl Cocktails founder and Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel, Vitamin Water founder Rohan Oza and former MLB player Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez are also slated to appear as guest sharks this season.
“Shark Tank,” which is based on “Dragons’ Den,” is produced by Mark Burnett and first debuted in 2009. To date, the sharks have invested more than $100 million in various companies after engaging in numerous bidding wars and shark fights. A new episode airs each Sunday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
