After working with some of the top WordPress companies in the community, such as Pagely, Pantheon, Valet, cPanel, and SkyVerge, Alex Juchniewicz has joined WebDevStudios (WDS) as the Technical Project Manager at our WordPress maintenance and support division, Maintainn.
“I feel that I’ve had an extremely amazing career journey in the WordPress space, learning from so many different people and growing from overcoming challenge,” says Alex. “I know that this new chapter with WDS will incorporate my experience in the Technical Project Manager role to help Maintainn get to the next level with our services and support. This position comes with a focus and responsibility of setting the tone for our entire team and also our clients. I’m excited to share my knowledge and background in working with development teams in coming up with ways to serve our clients better. I’m excited for what’s to come!”
Alex’s WordPress journey began in 2012 when Pagely CEO, Josh Strebel, gave Alex a position as a Customer Success Engineer (CSE). “That role kick started the reason why I fell in love with this community and CMS,” explains Alex.
Next, Alex went on to Pantheon, where he continued his established path as a CSE. “Their culture and environment challenged me in a healthy way that helped me grow personally and professionally,” Alex describes his time at Pantheon. “I learned about Scrum and Agile and what that looks like in a remote setting. It was the first time I worked with a global support team for handing off work.”
Alex’s experience is extensive, while his passion for WordPress and dedication to client projects remains impressive. It’s not often that someone comes along with his vivacity. We couldn’t be happier to have him on our team.
“I have learned that clients come to you because you are the expert and they are wanting help,” Alex explains his approach to project management. “There is a large amount of trust put into an agency and client relationship that you continually have to nurture and find the right balance to help them and your company be successful. Communication and setting expectations are so important, especially in the beginning of any project. You not only help the project stay on track, but you provide resources and help the client become part of the collaboration process that happens when working together.”
For the past couple of weeks, Alex has been participating in WDS’ onboarding process. From the look of things, it seems to be going great. Alex reports, “From day one, it’s been fantastic. I’d have to say one of the best onboarding experiences I’ve ever had.” Alex also says, “I would say that the biggest takeaway so far has been the culture here at WDS. I can honestly say that the leadership team is extremely invested in hiring talent and making sure there is a culture fit for the entire company. The team members that I have worked with have very teachable and approachable personalities.”
And somehow, with all this on his plate, Alex has found the time to participate as an organizer for WordCamp Houston, a WordCamp event that had been on hiatus for the past 10 years. “I am helping to organize sponsorships, the after party, and the speaker/sponsor/volunteer dinner,” Alex describes his role. “The after party will take place a two-story bar and grill overlooking the water. We’ve already reserved the space and the downstairs will be completely private for WordCamp attendees. It’s going to be a great time!”
Another thing Alex wants you to note about the event is that WordCamp Houston is being held in Clear Lake—a part of Houston that features bodies of water and an ocean so attendees can enjoy outdoor activities. Additionally, NASA and the Space Center are nearby.
“We wanted to make it exciting and have people want to come, so we decided to go with a space theme to incorporate the surrounding culture of space in Houston,” Alex says. To purchase tickets for WordCamp Houston, go to the event’s website.
Between his involvement with the WordPress community and his commitment to client projects, Alex is destined to make an impact. Follow him on Twitter. Be like Alex by joining our team. Please take a look at our open positions now.
