I pondered the topic of this blog post 10 minutes ago.
5 minutes ago my friend and top pro blogger Gaurav Kumar tagged me in this blog post:
Blogging Is My Life, Adsense Was My Girlfriend, Affiliate Marketing Is My Wife
Perfect timing!
He made a few clever analogies based on his career.
His lead off – blogging is my life – perfectly, 100%-wise, awesomely sums up how to become a top pro blogger who enjoys the ride.
Do you want to become a rocking pro *and* enjoy the journey?
Blogging will become a large part of your life.
Yesterday
Yesterday I met my friend Barb from Hole In The Donut.
She is one of the top travel bloggers on earth.
We had a fun time talking blogging, traveling and life.
I walked home for 2 hours in 100 degree heat – gotta get in my cardio – and sat down to write my next post. 2nd of the day. I worked for 4 more hours. I chilled with friends. For a few hours. Headed back home, worked for another 30 minutes before bed time.
Yesterday was a Saturday in Thailand for me. I could have done a billion things. Saturday, right?
But since I genuinely love blogging I give most of my attention and energy to blogging, daily. I do not take days off because I do what I love, and keep doing it.
This is what I mean by making blogging a huge part of your life. Not a fear-based obsession. Not working hard. Just giving most of your attention and energy to something you love doing, daily, and watching it grow into something awesome.
I Have an Offline Life
I hang with friends. I watch Netflix.
But since I have as much fun blogging as I do watching Netflix, I blog most of the time, because where your attention and energy goes, grows.
If I wanted to become a pro Netflix watcher I’d watch Netflix most of the day, every day. Where your attention and energy goes, grows.
If I wanted to become a pro party guy, I’d drink and hang out with friends most of the day here in Thailand, every day. Where your attention and energy goes, grows.
Since I love being a pro blogger who enjoys the ride, I blog most of the day. Where my attention and energy goes, grows.
I hang with friends for a bit, and watch some Netflix, regularly, but since I give little attention and energy to each, I enjoy each activity, but release, because my life ain’t gonna be about partying and Netflix.
Nope.
If you give your life to blogging – largely – blogging will give you a life you never dreamed you could live.
Example of a Professional
Alonzo Pichardo is an influential internet marketer and skilled, heart-centered online mentor.
He gave most of his life to internet marketing over the prior decade.
Naturally, where he put his attention and energy, grew. Now he is a big time pro who has enjoyed the ride.
See his 32,000 followers on Instagram? That’s called giving most of your attention and energy to internet marketing over the past 10 years of your life. Where your attention and energy goes, grows.
Does This Idea Scare You?
Some bloggers fear giving up bondage to become free. Sounds weird, right?
10 years ago I feared giving up cable TV and cancelling my subscription to give most of my attention and energy to being a pro blogger.
But in 3 days, I am flying to New Zealand for a 3 month trip. Wasn’t it worth releasing Curb Your Enthusiasm and a crappy 9-5 life I hated (bondage) to lay the foundation for a life of fun and freedom through pro blogging?
Where your attention and energy goes, grows.
Give your life to blogging.
Become a pro who enjoys the ride.
