On American Idol, Caleb Lee Hutchinson finished off the performances of the night with his own country rendition of Prince’s “When Doves Cry.” The show obtained the rights to the entire catalogue of Prince for the evening’s performances.
Katy Perry said that she is so proud of Caleb. Katy called it a great rendition. Katy thanked him for bringing back the guitar as it is his weapon. Luke Bryan said that he believes in anything that Caleb sets his mind to doing. Lionel Ritchie said that he was very proud of Caleb with that country take of Prince’s song.
