The ReadWrite team likes to test the latest and greatest products and technologies to produce unbiased reviews for our audience to enjoy. All that reviewing can sure get tiring though, so we’ve decided to reward ourselves by reviewing a product that would let us rest. Yes, we’re going to tell you guys about the Allswell Supreme mattress. And yes, it was supreme.
Who’s Allswell?
There’s no question there’s been an explosion of the “mattress-in-a-box” companies hitting the market with their products. One of the newer additions to the mix is Allswell. The company was started in 2018 and is operated under the Walmart umbrella. The brand stands alone but is owned wholly by Walmart.
Honestly, the ReadWrite team couldn’t believe this luxury, premium product came from Walmart. That said the disruptive prices is something we come to expect from the everyday low price leader.
Allswell is Walmart’s first direct-to-consumer brand and has hit the market hard by leveraging Walmart’s distribution channels. The company mainly sells mattresses, with three tiers of comfort: The Allswell, The Luxe, and The Supreme.
Allswell has no brick and mortar locations, but that’s really not necessary these days, right? Allswell will ship the mattress directly to your door, for free, vacuum-sealed in a box. When the mattress arrives, you’ll simply unbox and leave for 24-48 hours for the mattress to fully inflate.
How’s the Sleep?
The Allswell Supreme boasts all the bells and whistles of a “supreme” mattress. It’s a hybrid coil and memory foam mattress with a built-in euro-topper, anti-microbial and enhanced heat conductivity properties, and quantum coil edge support on all four sides. I know what you’re thinking…what does any of that mean?
Like many of you, the ReadWrite team isn’t vetted as mattress geeks, so it’s tough to judge based on all those buzz words. We just know what we like when we try something out. What we can say is the Supreme mattress is exceptionally comfortable. If you prefer a firmer sleep surface, the mattress will be a perfect match. We can’t speak for the other two models (The Allswell and Luxe), but for the Supreme, the firmness is balanced beautifully with the plush euro-topper and memory foam.
Our sleeper is about six feet, 180 lbs. and tried the mattress in multiple sleeping positions side, back, and stomach. The mattress is definitely optimal for a side-sleeper, but there were no negatives that stood out for other sleeping positions.
So What’s is it Going to Cost Me?
The Allswell Supreme mattress is the most expensive bed in the Allswell line. See pricing below for a Queen mattress for the three different models:
- Allswell – $345 USD
- The Luxe – $645 USD
- The Supreme – $985 USD
Unfortunately, ReadWrite hasn’t been able to test all the luxury mattress brands out there, so we had to do a bit of research when comparing these prices. As far as bells and whistles go, the Allswell Supreme has just about everything you’d find in a top of the line mattress. From a pricing standpoint, Allswell stands at the lower end of the high-end mattress brands.
The question we asked ourselves was – how much better could it be and how much would that cost me? There are brands out there that offer advanced features like liquid heating and cooling, adjustable bed-frames, and other features but if you’re just looking for a place to lay your head at night — those may not be necessary. Especially not for an extra $2000-$3000.
Final Thoughts
We haven’t tried every mattress out there so we can’t compare the Allswell against their competitors from experience — yet. What we can say is that our experience with Allswell was fantastic. Shipping was a breeze, the box came undamaged to our doorstep, and the sleep has been wonderful. The price point is fair considering the quality of the mattress and is comparable to mattresses with a similar set of features.
On top of that, Allswell offers a 100-day money-back guarantee if you do find any issues with the bed. To those of us who like to do the reviews — a money-back guarantee makes all the difference. Backed by Walmart, lets us know we won’t be stuck with a product if we hate it. Thankfully, no problems here — the Allswell mattress is a great product. We’re excited to see what other products the Allswell team will roll out in the future. Until then, we’ll continue to catch some ZZZs!
