7pm UPDATE: It’s official – Google’s Android 10 operating system has begun being pushed out to users across the world.
Speculation had been rife that the US firm would release its latest OS today but now it’s been confirmed with Google’s Dave Burke saying: “Android 10 is here! With this release, we focused on making your everyday life easier with features powered by on-device machine learning, as well as supporting new technologies like Foldables and 5G.”
If you want to get your hands on this upgrade then Android 10 begins rolling out to Pixel phones today, with Google saying it is working with its partners to launch and upgrade devices to Android 10 this year.
ORIGINAL STORY: Google Android fans could be in for a very tasty treat tonight with the arrival of Android 10.
This blockbuster update may well be pushed out to some devices in the coming hours with a leak almost certainly confirming Google’s plans for this major upgrade.
According to Canadian mobile carrier Rogers, the Android 10 operating system will officially become available today, September 3.
The team at GSMAreana happened to spot this slight slip-up on the mobile firm’s website with it showing a list of devices and the date that Android 10 is launching.
If true, it means that Google’s own devices, including the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 could all get this latest and greatest operating system today.

If it is released expect official news to be announced at around 6pm tonight as that’s when US tech firms usual begin pushing out their updates.
Android 10 was formally unveiled at Google’s I/O developer conference back in May – the new software comes with a deluge of enhanced functionality for fans to get excited about.
First and foremost, Android 10 finally introduces a dark theme for the operating system.
While some third-party vendors like Huawei and Samsung have already released such modes for their respective Android skins, Android 10 will mark the first time a dark theme is natively embedded within the platform.
By far one of Android 10’s most noticeable alterations comes from its new gestures that are used to navigate the operating system.
Google’s latest software gets rid of the back button – performing such a function is now achieved by swiping inward from either the left or right-hand side of a mobile’s screen.
Finally, Android 10 also improves notifications, increases device security and adds a number of nifty new features such as Live Caption.
