Apple’s iOS 13 has two new camera modes that make iPhone photos look professional

If your Instagram page is in desperate need of a refresh, Apple’s new operating system will come as music to your ears.

iOS 13 is expected to launch at Apple’s event on September 10, and it has a range of impressive camera and photo features to boost your Instagram game.

Most notable are several new Portrait Mode features, which will make your photos look like they were snapped on a professional camera, rather than an iPhone.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Portrait Mode features you can expect in iOS 13.

Portrait Lighting Control

Portrait Mode is an absolute favourite among Instagram users, giving photos a blurred background and more professional look.

In iOS 13, Portrait Mode has been given a boost, thanks to a new Portrait Lighting Control option.

Apple explained: “Virtually adjust the position and intensity of your studio lighting. Increase the intensity of each Portrait Lighting effect — moving the light closer to your subject — to smooth skin, sharpen eyes and brighten facial features.

“Or decrease the intensity of the light — moving it away from your subject — for a subtle, refined look.”

Monochromatic Portrait Mode

Another update to Portrait Mode is the option to snap photos in black and white.

Apple calls this mode ‘High-Key Mono.’

Apple added: “A new Portrait Lighting effect, High-Key Mono, creates a beautiful, classic look with a monochromatic subject on a white background.”
