TO address the growing need for digitization in the country, Axadra Ventures is developing a solution that will enable small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to harness the potential of digital technology to be more competitive in the marketplace.
“It is going to be a down to Earth solution geared for the SMEs. It will cost them P50,000. The package contains social media, Web hosting, search engine optimization, analytics and cloud,” Axadra Ventures General Manager Bernard San Juan III told the press in a recent interview on the sidelines of the launching of the company held in Makati City.
“Right now, we are beta testing the product before launching it to the market,” San Juan added.
Moreover, Axadra is leading “Digitize the Philippines,” an ongoing digital learning seminar for SMEs that aims to address, educate and implement digital solutions for Filipino businesses.

San Juan said there is a great need for SMEs to pursue the digital road map so they can expand their markets, be more efficient and move up higher in the value chain. Of the 900,000 registered businesses in the Philippines, 90 percent belong to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) category.
Despite having more than 900,000 registered companies in the country, only 25 percent of these companies are optimized for digital transformation.
“Some of them believe going digital is a formidable challenge,” San Juan noted.
Despite being one of the regional leaders in e-commerce spending and digital consumption in general, San Juan pointed out that SMEs in the Philippines lag behind in terms of integrating digital technology to their business processes.
He said the Philippines, particularly the local retails, missed opportunities when e-commerce entered the country. At present, he said the foreign sector controls more than 50 percent of commerce in the Philippines.
Moreover, San Juan said, the country also needs to produce a substantial number of digital marketers to be able to handle the business sector’s requirements in the new marketplace.
