An interview with Barack and Michelle Obama revealing a shocking blow to liberals regarding the Second Amendment is satirical news. There is no truth to a report that the former U.S. president and first lady spoke about their enthusiasm for the Second Amendment as well as their favorite firearms. The Obamas have been the subject of many fake news, tweets, photographs and memes in the past.
Where did this satirical news originate? Daily World Update published the satirical news article on May 24, 2018, reporting that the Obamas gave an interview where they discussed their full support of the Second Amendment despite recent high school shootings. You can read the satirical news article below.
In a soon to be published exclusive interview with World of Firepower Magazine, former President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama chat about their newly renewed enthusiasm for Second Amendment rights and their favorite firearms.
Since rejoining civilian life in Chicago, it became clear that life without a cadre of round-the-clock Secret Service staff was going to be a challenge. The Obama’s made a conscious decision to address their safety in a way that only American Freedoms permit.
Barack’s sidearm of choice is a Colt 1911. “People seem fond of the Glock 9mm, but as the former Commander in Chief, I have a passion for sheer stopping power on my waistband. I’ve seen firsthand what overwhelming power can do for a conflict. Not that I’d call the Glock owners pussies, but… whatever. You can quote me on that. It’s not off the record. I’m not that kind of guy.”
However, there is no truth to the above story. What is the problem with the story to make it false? Of course, there is no legitimate news coverage of the Obamas having made any such statements in an interview. While there is a World of Firepower magazine, the above story cites to a wholly different and inappropriate site. Rather, the real magazine has no such interview with the Obamas.
In 2016, the president announced a series of executive actions aimed at reducing gun violence, offering a rebuttal to his critics by citing law and personal pain. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will now require that people who sell guns at stores, at gun shows or over the Internet be licensed and conduct checks, according to CNBC. The ATF also was finalizing a rule requiring background checks for buyers of dangerous weapons from a trust, corporation or other legal entity.
In 2018, the Obamas expressed their support for the students advocating for gun control reform after 17 people were killed at their high school in Parkland, Florida. Obama has advocated for “common sense gun safety laws” then and tweeted about it again in the hours following the Parkland shooting as well.
