Best Windows 10 apps this week


Three-hundred-and-fifty-four in a series. Welcome to this week’s overview of the best apps, games and extensions released for Windows 10 on the Microsoft Store in the past seven days.

Microsoft plans to integrate cloud download recovery functionality in the first Windows 10 feature update of 2020 to improve the recovery process further.

The company announced this week that Windows 10 is now on more than 900 million devices.

New Windows apps and games

Doxillion Document Converter Free

Doxillion Document Converter Free is a free app to convert more than 50 different documents formats. The app supports batch converting. OCR to convert text on PDF images to text, and the conversion of source code to HTML.

The free version is limited and only allowed for home use.

DTS Sound Unbound

Install the DTS Sound Unbound application on your device to unlock support for DTS:X and DTS Headphone:X that delivers immersive 3D audio when using Microsoft spatial sound within Windows.

The app is available as a free trial version; options to purchase DTS:X or DTS Headphone:X are provided in the application.

Modern computer games such as Borderlands 3, Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4 or The Division 2 support the audio feature already.

ILSpy

ILSpy is an open source .NET assembly browser and decompiler. You find the source code on GitHub.

The application is extensible via plugins, supports decompilation to C#, and more.

Bridges in Autumn, a set of 13 high quality wallpaper images.

Notable updates

Microsoft released .NET Core 3.0 Final this week.

Paint.net update introduces support for DirectDraw Surface (dds), 4-bit PNG, BMP and TIFF, and features performance improvements.

Windows Terminal update introduces the new Cascadia Code font, better integration of WSL distributions, options to clean-up key bindings and color schemes, and settings schema support.

The latest Your Phone application update introduces a Battery Indicator.
