CNN firing Jake Tapper for assaulting Eric Trump is satirical news. There is no truth to a report that CNN let go Tapper who was their Chief Washington Correspondent for CNN, anchor of the CNN weekday television news show The Lead with Jake Tapper, and anchor of the CNN and CNN International Sunday morning affairs program State of the Union. The false story claims Tapper assaulted Trump.
Where did this satirical news originate? America’s Last Line of Defense published the satirical news article on June 11, 2018, reporting that Tapper was out of a job from CNN because he was caught attacking President Donald Trump’s son. You can read the satirical news article below.
Jake Tapper made a huge mistake last night when he lost his temper and pushed Eric Trump. Trump’s Secret Service detail quickly detained Tapper, but he was released because Eric was too classy to press charges.
That doesn’t mean Tapper got away scot-free, however. CNN sent him packing this morning, as pictured in the image above, escorted by armed guards. CNN Executive Producer Art Tubolls hasn’t made a public statement, but his office did send an email to all CNN employees, which we’ve obtained a copy of:
TO: All Employees
FROM: EP Tubolls
I am sad to inform you that we had no choice but to terminate the contract of Jake Tapper for violating the code of conduct therein. His actions of Sunday evening were beyond unprofessional. That being said, we wish jake well in his new career, whatever that may be.
Art.
However, there is no truth to the above story. What is wrong with the above story to make it false? Of course, there is no legitimate news coverage of such a story happening. A simple search of CNN and Fox News comes up with no such story that Tapper was fired for having assaulted Trump. Certainly, a story this big would be covered nationally by all major newspapers and television news programming.
Finally, The Last Line of Defense carries the following disclaimer on its website:
DISCLAIMER: America’s Last Line of Defense is a satirical publication that may sometimes appear to be telling the truth. We assure you that’s not the case. We present fiction as fact and our sources don’t actually exist. Names that represent actual people and places are purely coincidental and all images should be considered altered and do not in any way depict reality.
In other words, if you believe this crap you’re a real dumbass.
Nonetheless, some people confused this story as being real. Here are some reactions on social media.
Recently, Tapper discussed the Trump administration’s crackdown on James Wolfe, a US Senate staffer who was arrested and charged with lying to federal agents as part of an investigation related to the unauthorized disclosure of non-public information, according to the federal indictment.
