Google is offering free workshops, networking and coaching at the Council Bluffs Public Library on Tuesday.
The “Grow with Google” initiative aims to help Americans — those who make up the workforce of today and the students who will drive the workforce of tomorrow — access Google’s training and tools to grow their skills, careers and businesses.
The initiative began at the end of January in Pennsylvania, according to the Grow with Google website. Google plans to visit libraries in all 50 states.
In Iowa, Council Bluffs is one of three cities to host Grow with Google, along with Des Moines Public Library on Monday, and Davenport Public Library next Wednesday.
One-on-one coaching will be done through the reservation desk between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Google experts will answer any questions in the following areas: Google Ads, Analytics, My Business, G Suite, Gmail and calendar and Grow with Google Partner Program. Each session can last up to 20 minutes.
Workshops vary among nonprofit sector, small business owners or professionals and skill level, but most are open to the public.
“Discover digital resources to empower your community” is for local nonprofit, library and education professionals who serve job seekers, students or small business owners, who want to learn about the Grow with Google Partner Program. From 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., the workshop offers free resources and curriculum that can be used to teach people digital skills that will enhance careers and businesses.
“Reach customers online with Google” starts at 11:30 a.m. and goes until 12:45 p.m., teaching Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Smart Campaigns in Google Ads.
From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., “Get your business online” explores Google My Business, a free tool for local businesses that want to connect with customers on Google search and maps and create or update business profiles or simple websites.
Lastly, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., “Digital skills for everyday tasks” teaches work management using the Google suite. It is recommended to already have a Google account before joining this workshop.
