Did you know I am a huge basketball fan? See me rocking the Celtics T-shirt above?
Not as much as when I was a homebody, since I can’t follow the game quite like I used to, being a world traveler now. But I am a hoops nut. Still.
I followed high school hoops in New Jersey. Mainly, St, Patrick. This high school produced NBA players:
- Kyrie Irving
- Michael Kidd Gilchrist
- Sam Dalembert
- Al Harrington
- Deandre Bembry
1 current college freshman and Patrick School alum – Nick Richards – will likely be a top 5 to 10 lottery pick next year for the NBA draft.
Imagine a tiny high school in Northern New Jersey with 6 players either in the NBA or having played in the NBA? That’s nuts!
Toss in the countless high level division 1 basketball players from this school and you have some of the greatest talent per capita in a high school, in the whole United States.
I had such a fun time following St. Patrick, now the Patrick School.
The Connections
Do you want to grab my attention? Do you want to get featured on Blogging From Paradise?
Here’s the first step; send me an email at [email protected] and mention how you follow Kyrie Irving in the NBA. He is one of the best players in the world. You probably know of him, at least. Or just note how you read I was an NBA fan. Or let me know how you found it fascinating how I studied Meteorology in University. Yes; I coulda went Al Roker instead of Pro Blogger.
I could have went Sam Champion versus being a Blogging Champion.
Emailing me about my basketball obsession, my BS in Meteorology, or perhaps the cute kitty named Delilah who appears on many of my Facebook Live videos is the easiest, most simple way to form a deeper emotional bond with me.
It’s about building connections.
While reading this social media marketing guide on WHSR:
24 Golden Rules for Social Media Marketers and Bloggers
I noted how I built my entire online career around golden rule #2. I build connections. Meaning, I develop a genuine, authentic bonds with successful bloggers, taking an interest in them, their blog and their life away from blogging.
That is the key. That is the turning point.
I have push button things you can touch on to get my attention quickly. Push button in a good way. If you mention basketball, I light up. If you mention meditation, or weather, or running, or fitness, I am in. Ya got me. You have my attention.
Of course we may be working toward similar blogging or business goals. But in the same regard, if you find something that makes me sing, away from blogging, you formed that deep, emotional, connecting bond which forms the foundation for my friendship.
Do you know I love travel? You should. I built Blogging From Paradise on my world travels. Send me an email. Ask me where I am planning my next trip. Let’s talk.
Avoid Doing This
Do *not* email me asking me to help you. 99% of bloggers do this. Which is why 99% of bloggers struggle online. Which is why 81% of bloggers never make more than $100 during their online careers. Why would they succeed? They are just thinking about themselves, not others. They have no online friends. Because they spend all of their time and energy trying to *get* stuff from people, where if they would just *give* something, and take a genuine interest in another human being, things would come together nicely for them.
