Does COVID-19 have an impact on SEO? / Digital Information World

Marie Haynes recently conducted a weekly poll from her Twitter handle asking her fellow search engine optimization experts if they were seeing a decline in their organic search traffic during the COVID-19 period?

In their replies for the week ending March 23, 2020, the majority – almost 60 percent of the SEO experts reported a fall in traffic for their customers in the past week. On the other hand, 15 percent of the respondents found no change in their search results.

Interestingly, around 16 percent of the SEOs said that they found a positive change in their organic search traffic.

However, when we compared the results to the previous week survey (March 17, 2020) – the results were quite contradicting. For example, almost 49 percent of the SEOs saw a decline in their activity during that week while nearly 21 percent did not notice any change. Similar to this week 13.5 percent of the SEO saw an improvement in their customer’s ranking.

To our surprise, traffic from Bing is reported to show a significant improve – due to the inception of ‘work from home’ during the pandemic. In fact, a nonprofit amortization Kars4Kids mentioned an increase in the Bing desktop impressions/conversions while other traffic decreases.

Seems like the coronavirus is not only creating a chaos in our everyday life, but also adding variation to the SEO, business and brand marketing trends.

Do let us know your thoughts about the current situation in the comments!
