President Donald Trump being bestowed an honor title by an association of people with small hands is fake news. There is no truth to a report that Trump was being given a title by The National Organization for Rare Disorders as a result of his small hands. If the story sounds wild and crazy that is because it is just that as it is false. Trump has been the subject of many fake news, tweets, photographs and memes.
Where did this fake news originate? The World News Daily Report published the fake news article on May 19, 2018, reporting that Trump was named an Honorary Ambassador for people suffering from Acrodysostosis based upon his own history with the disease. You can read the fake news article below.
Washington, D.C. | The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) has bestowed President Donald Trump this week with the honorific title of Honorary Ambassador for people suffering from Acrodysostosis.
Acrodysostosis is a rare genetic disorder characterized by abnormally small hands and feet with short, stubby fingers and toes that may affect all or some of the fingers and toes.
Donald Trump was officially diagnosed with Acrodysostosis in 1954 at the age of eight years old after his mother noticed “his hands and feet weren’t growing normally” according to his latest biography.
Acrodysostosis has also been closely linked to Penile agenesis, a birth defect in humans in which a male child is born with unusually small genitalia or without a penis in certain cases.
However, there is no truth to the above story. Of course, there is no legitimate news coverage of such a story happening. A simple search of The National Organization for Rare Disorders comes up with no results regarding an alleged title being bestowed upon Trump. Acrodysostosis does indeed exist; however, Trump has never been diagnosed with it. While the above fake news carries a photo allegedly attributed to someone honoring Trump with the award, the origin of that photo can be found here.
The photo is actually of Desiree Lyon Howe, the Executive Director of the APF, who was awarded the 2016 Rare Impact Award by the National Organization for Rare Disorders, which represents 23 million Americans with rare diseases. Desiree credited the success of the APF to the members and the Scientific Advisory Board. Finally, and most importantly, World News Daily Report carries the following disclaimer:
