Magento Commerce announces Progressive Web Applications Studio. Magento Commerce has announced Magento Progressive Web Applications Studio, a suite of tools for building online stores with app-like experiences. PWA Studio will allow Magento Commerce solution partners and user-experience developers to deliver fast and simple front-end experiences on mobile devices. Features include tools to personalize content and add local preferences, and developer tools for fast prototyping, helpful debugging, rich feedback, increased productivity, and more. Magento PWA Studio will be available through an early adopter program this summer.
Amazon to offer in-car delivery. Amazon.com has joined with General Motors and Volvo to offer in-car deliveries. This new option is an expansion of Amazon’s Key program, launched last year, which lets drivers drop off packages inside homes. The service is free for Prime members who own certain newer GM and Volvo models. Customers download the Amazon Key app and link their Amazon account to a connected car service. Cars must be parked in publicly accessible areas, and customers receive a four-hour delivery window, as well as notifications on delivery and door locking.
eBay opens SHINE Awards for Small Business. The application period for eBay’s 2018 SHINE Awards for Small Business is now open. If you’re a U.S. eBay seller, you could win $10,000, a trip to eBay’s seller celebration, a 1-year eBay Anchor Store subscription, and more. eBay is looking for merchants who have a passion for selling on its platform.
BigCommerce raises $64 million. BigCommerce raised $64 million in a recent round of funding. The company plans to use the capital to expand internationally, mainly in Europe. Since it was founded in 2009, BigCommerce has raised more than $200 million.
Magento Commerce unveils advanced payment and shipping capabilities. Magento Commerce has announced changes to its flagship platform. New integrations with Amazon Pay, Klarna, and Vertex expedite the checkout process, provide flexible payment terms, and deliver instant and accurate tax and shipping rates. An integration with Amazon Pay streamlines checkout. The integration with Klarna makes it easier for shoppers to pay in installments or on credit. The integration with Vertex and Magento Shipping also provides tools that can save merchants time and minimize cart abandonment.
Amazon launches International Shopping experience. Amazon launched “International Shopping” within the Amazon Shopping App, making it possible for international customers to browse and shop over 45 million eligible items that can be shipped to their country from the U.S. It is available on mobile browsers and the Amazon Shopping App for iOS and Android mobile devices. The International Shopping experience offers shopping in five languages — English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, German, and Brazilian Portuguese, with the ability to shop in 25 currencies. Customers can choose from different shipping options and delivery speeds, depending on how quickly they want their package to arrive.
Deliv offers same-day delivery for Shopify retailers. “Last mile” specialist Deliv is enabling Shopify retailers to offer scheduled same-day delivery to customers. Through a partnership with Zapiet, a pickup and local delivery plug-in for Shopify, retailers can manage the deliveries and their inventories. AdRoll and Magento Commerce announce a strategic partnership. AdRoll, a platform for online advertising, has launched a new integration with Magento Commerce. The new integration allows AdRoll customers to easily target and engage shoppers based on how they interact with their Magento Commerce store. AdRoll also instantly creates personalized product recommendation ads and revenue tracking for Magento customers at no additional cost to the customer.
AlienVault unveils free threat-scanning service for endpoint devices. AlienVault, a provider of unified security management and crowd-sourced threat intelligence, has announced the launch of its OTX Endpoint Threat Hunter, a free threat-scanning service in the Open Threat Exchange. This first-of-its-kind service natively leverages over 19 million indicators of compromise on a daily basis by a global community of 80,000 participants.
Etsy helps sellers add categories to listings. Etsy sellers have a new category search tool when they add or edit listings. When sellers add a category to new listings or update their existing listings, they can search all of Etsy’s categories to find the right fit. Choose the most specific term from the list, and Etsy automatically includes all possibilities. It will offer suggestions based on the categories you use frequently.
Anomali partners with Visa to offer global payment breach intelligence. Anomali, a provider of threat management and collaboration solutions, has announced a partnership with Visa to provide cyber security teams with intelligence on indicators of compromise drawn from Visa Threat Intelligence, an exclusive source of verified merchant breach intelligence. Delivered to the Anomali platform through an API from the Visa Developer Platform, Visa Threat Intelligence enables merchants to collaborate within and across sectors to mitigate threats.
Stripe debuts Radar anti-fraud A.I. tools. Stripe has launched Radar for Fraud Teams, an expansion of its free artificial-intelligence-based Radar service that runs with Stripe to help stop fraudulent transactions. The new paid product is in conjunction with an update to the free core version, Radar 2.0, which will contain advanced machine learning to improve fraud detection by up to 25 percent. Since its launch in October 2016, Radar has prevented $4 billion in fraud.
