Elon Musk offering to buy Facebook from Mark Zuckerberg and then delete the social media platform is satirical news. There is no truth to a report that the founder, chief executive officer (CEO), and lead designer of SpaceX, and co-founder, CEO, and product architect of Tesla Inc. is looking to purchase Facebook from its s a co-founder and CEO so that he could delete the social media platform.
Where did this satirical news originate? Alternative Science published the news article on March 31, 2018, reporting that Musk made an offer to Zuckerberg to obtain ownership of Facebook and that he was planning on closing down the social networking service company. You can read it below.
Earlier this week, Elon Musk made global headlines when he deleted the official SpaceX and Tesla pages from Facebook. Musk made certain to clarify that he didn’t make the decision for political reasons, but rather because Facebook gives him “the willies.”
Today, Musk announced that he has reached out to Facebook and offered to buy every share of the company, effectively making him the sole owner of the social media platform. Musk was speaking to a gathering of SpaceX and Tesla investors and told the group even though he has deep misgivings about the site, he’d “do humanity a favor” and buy it……
The video shows a SpaceX Falcon rocket blasting off into the sky. At one point the two solid boosters fall off and glide on a precise path down to the landing pad. Both rockets land perfectly square, and one ends up resting gently on a big red button labeled “DELETE.”
“And you can see that the second side booster would end up pressing the delete button,” Musk said. “Which would send a proton torpedo down the exhaust port of Facebook’s headquarters, triggering a chain reaction that should destroy the platform.”
However, there is no truth to the above story. What is the problem with the story to make it false? For one thing, there is no legitimate news coverage of such a buyout occurring. Musk deleted his company Facebook pages for both SpaceX and Tesla. Then, in response to a story from enthusiast site Tesla Motor Club reporting the news, Musk said deleting the pages from Facebook was not an effort to make a public comment about online social media platform, nor was it any response to a dare.
Instead, he says he deleted the pages for Tesla because he does not like the social media behemoth. “Gives me the willies,” he tweeted.
It’s not a political statement and I didn’t do this because someone dared me to do it. Just don’t like Facebook. Gives me the willies. Sorry.

Recently, Zuckerberg sold $357 million worth of Facebook shares. Zuckerberg said in September he would sell 35 million to 75 million shares during the following 18 months to help fund the philanthropic Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. According to Zuckerberg’s latest statement of stock ownership, filed earlier this month, he still controls 87 percent of Facebook voting shares.
Here are some examples of people sharing the satirical news on social media.

As for the satirical news, James Schlarmann, has a bio listed at the bottom of the page that says:
James is the founding contributor and editor-in-chief of The Political Garbage Chute, a political satire and commentary site, which can be found on Facebook as well.
You definitely should not give that much a shit about his opinions.
