Facebook updated its company branding with a new logo that appears with different colors to distinguish each company it owns.
Here’s a look at the new logo as it transitions through Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp brand colors.
Facebook says the new branding is designed for clarity – to make it clear that it’s the parent company of many popular apps.
“People should know which companies make the products they use. Our main services include the Facebook app, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, Workplace, Portal and Calibra.
Today, we’re updating our company branding to be clearer that these products come from Facebook. We’re introducing a new corporate logo and further distinguishing the Facebook company from the Facebook app, which will keep its own branding.”
While adding the Facebook logo to each of its apps may seem unnecessary to those inside the tech and marketing bubble, there’s an alarming number of ‘regular’ users who are unaware Facebook owns Instagram and WhatsApp.
Over the coming weeks, Facebook will start using this new branding in its products. As one example, here’s a look at the upcoming changing to the Instagram login screen:
Expect to see more of this throughout the apps owned by Facebook.
