The Chicago Lighthouse, the Service Club of Chicago, and the Walnut Room at Macy’s came together September 12 during Flair 2017 to support children’s programs at the Lighthouse. Chicago Shakespeare Theatre has opened its third theater, the Yard at Chicago Shakespeare, at Navy Pier. The Yard is located at the site of the former Skyline Stage and has nine audience seating towers that the group can arrange in many configurations to seat from 150 to 850 viewers. NOWHERE PEOPLE
Few can imagine what it is like to be stateless. A new photo exhibit, Nowhere People, running now through Saturday, Dec. 2, at Roosevelt University’s Gage Gallery, 18 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, tells the story. The exhibition by photographer Greg Constantine features 39 black-and-white photographs of children who have no citizenship and, therefore, no place to call their true home. Rush University Medical Center ranked fourth among 107 leading academic medical centers in the United States, up from fifth last year, in a national study conducted by the health care services company Vizient. Rush has ranked among the top five in the annual Quality and Accountability Study five consecutive times and nine times since the University HealthSystem Consortium, now part of Vizient, began the study in 2005. The ranking earns Rush a Birnbaum Award, recognizing it for demonstrating superior performance as measured by the study.
