Google Algorithm Updates, Domain Properties Replaced Property Sets & Google Ads Drops Average Position

This week in search, I covered two different Google search algorithm updates that touched down in the past 7 days. Google has discontinued Property Sets in Google Search Console but it is being replaced by Domain Properties, which require DNS verification unless you use Google Domains. Google’s found on the web featured snippet has sparked the old debate around featured snippets stealing content from publishers. Google Search Console added new reports for product data. Google said do not stuff content on the bottom of your e-commerce category pages. Google’s Martin Splitt stetted a new video series on JavaScript and SEO and his first video explained the basics. Google’s John Mueller said his greatest SEO success was telling someone to remove the noindex from their site. Google image search added a swipe feature to see the next image. Google is testing more interfaces, which is common. Google Ads is testing large images for search ads. Google Ads is dropping the average position metric in September. Google My Business launched a new spam form. Google revamped the Test My Site tool. Google is moving many of their online support forums. That was this past week in search at the Search Engine Roundtable.
