As expected, Google told us yesterday afternoon that the June 2019 core update has started to roll out. It may take several days to roll out to all of Google’s data centers but the process has started yesterday afternoon.
On Sunday, Google pre-announced this, which was rare, but they said they will be doing an update this week – a core update to the search ranking algorithms.
Tomorrow, we are releasing a broad core algorithm update, as we do several times per year. It is called the June 2019 Core Update. Our guidance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before. Please see this tweet for more about that:https://t.co/tmfQkhdjPL

Throughout Monday, the SEO community was saying – “are we there yet” all day long. So Google posted this update:
For those asking, the June 2019 Core Update has not gone live yet. This thread will be updated when that process has begun.
— Google SearchLiaison (@searchliaison) June 3, 2019
Then about an hour later, Google posted it has started to go live:
The June 2019 Core Update is now live and rolling out to our various data centers over the coming days.

Google said “The June 2019 Core Update is now live and rolling out to our various data centers over the coming days.”
It will take at least the rest of the week for this to settle down. I am sure we will see plenty of theories before then and even after. But for now, let it settle, you will see pretty soon if you were impacted by this update and then you can start theorizing.
Many are already saying, even before it launched, that this was a rollback of some sorts. Gary Illyes from Google posted a GIF about that:
TFW you learn from a SEO that we allegedly rolled something back [in search ranking] pic.twitter.com/afM8iqlXhE

So we released our core ranking algo update and it’s rolling out to the DCs. We’ve been improving our [you name it] algorithm for years also. It’s completely unrelated to the core algo update, i just thought I’d mention it in this tweet about the core algo update. #greatwriting pic.twitter.com/FM6NGLzzbf

I may or may not do a survey, the last one was a bust and I didn’t see a pattern.
As of this morning, I am some chatter at WebmasterWorld about the update making an impact on some sites. But overall, right now, it seems pretty quiet – it might just need more time to roll out or maybe this was a smaller update? Here is some of the early chatter:
30% traffic drop, some keywords have slipped to the second page from first, second or third position.
I’m thinking that regardless of what Google has said officially, this update started rolling out late last week. I saw significantly more fluctuation since Friday and over the weekend than I did today. In fact I’ve seen almost nothing today and I am always rocked by even small updates that most people barely notice.
70% boost in desktop organic traffic but mobile still the same as it was before the update began.
Nope. Nothing on my end.
Definitely continuing to see “Panda-like” shuffling in the SERPs. Something’s happening all throughout the day today.
After a couple of months of good growth, it seems i have taken a pounding over the past 24 hours. UK, Automotive
I’m still seeing no change. Maybe Google just decided my site (and my competitors) was fine as it was.
I still observe the 25% traffic increase I mentioned yesterday.
I can’t see any significant changes as yet, but the update may take several days to completely roll out.
I’m in the UK and not seen any major issues (yet) but still too early?
The only thing I’ve seen is a 1.4% ranking drop across all our keywords.
Finance industry here.
I don’t see any significant change in traffic from my end but I am still monitoring my top KW and traffic.
I noticed an increase in traffic almost instantly after the update, which continued until around 8am BST, but back down since then. Hoping the early increases will return and it’s just a case of Google rolling it our across all servers…
Black Hat World has a lot of discussion around this, mostly about waiting for it to come but here are some who saw changes so far:
Looks like the update has begun. Seeing good movements across all the keywords for one of my sites. No major changes yet on other sites.
Nothing happened here but the usual +/- rankings
I noticed some great movements
Rankings starting to drop… At this point i’m pretty sure people at Google have no idea what they are doing. They’re like “hey, let’s tell people we are doing a major core update, but what we’ll really do is shift a bunch of websites up and down the SERPs… then on the next update we’ll revert some of the changes and see what happens…”
I agree. As of late last night, I still hadn’t seen too much movement. Can take a bit to pick up the changes (and for the update to fully roll out). I’ll share what I’m seeing. Stay tuned.

@rustybrick It’s been a volatile day today but it definitely turned several notches up this evening. Noticing MASSIVE swings in the SERPs now. The update is happening alright. Many sites are losing their rich snippets stars now — at least from my viewpoint. cc:@glenngabe

There is also a ton of comments on my story from Sunday on this update.
Also the tools are pretty mixed, most showing little change – keep in mind, we may need to wait for tomorrow to see changes:
It updated hours later:
So I think we need to let this roll out a bit more to fully see the impact or even guess the impact.
I have more details in our original post over here.
