Google Search update lets users find their favorite Podcasts easier than ever

Google experienced several indexing issues recently, with some lasting for a week in April and over three days in May. It will be interesting to see how long the issue lasts this time. The ability to search for and listen to podcasts will also eventually come to Google Podcasts on the web.
Google has also mentioned that this will also be rolled out to the Google Assistant and Google Podcasts for Web later this year.
Currently, people have to search for podcasts separately by adding the word “podcasts” to their search query. So Google will not just show podcasts that match the title or meta data of the podcast but it can also surface podcasts where the audio has those words within the podcast. Podcasts will be popping up within related search results as of Thursday for English-speaking users in the US.

Apple was quick in realizing the potential of podcasts. One popular source of information and entertainment now are podcasts. On the other hand, the Google Podcasts app for Android, which debuted in June 2018, accounted for about 1%. Underneath that, a blue-colored “play” button will start the podcast playing directly in search results.
These features are rolling out as of today and but are exclusive to users using US English for now. With the upcoming macOS X 10.15 (Catalina), Apple will do away with the native iTunes app for the Mac.
