Google is making use of a gTLD it owns by creating ‘.new’ domains that people can visit as a quick way to create new G Suite files.
For example, users can instantly start creating a new website on Google Sites by navigating to ‘website.new’.
Or, as another example, users can start compiling data for a report in Google Sheets by visiting ‘sheets.new’.
Here are all the .new domains that are currently available:
- Google Docs: docs.new
- Google Sheets: sheets.new
- Google Slides: slides.new
- Google Forms: forms.new
- Google Sites: sites.new

The .new gTLD is a domain extension that Google has exclusively owned since 2014.
This is the first time Google has done anything of note with .new.
It remains exclusive to Google, so regular users cannot register their own .new domain.
Google is likely reserving this gTLD for its own uses, as it could conceivably be used for creating new items across all of Google’s properties.
Such as composing a new email, uploading a new YouTube video, creating a new calendar entry, and so on.
We’ll have to wait and see if Google does anything else with the domain. For now, there’s at least a handful of uses available.
These domains are live now and appear to work with any browser.
