Google is testing out a new view for their search results navigation that includes Google Material Theme icons and color schemes.
What Are Google Search Icons?
As found by a Twitter user, the new Google search icons feature a small graphic to the left of each navigation tab option.

When selected, the menu icons are filled in with Google’s colors: red, yellow, green and blue. This update is currently only available for a handful of users, which leads the industry to believe it’s still in testing.
For most Google searchers, the search tabs populate without icons and in solid colors of gray or blue.
Why Is Google Testing New Search Icons?
Google hasn’t commented on the testing, but this update appears to be purely cosmetic and shouldn’t have any effect on search engine optimization (SEO).
For a short time in 2010 and 2011, Google incorporated icons in their search results, according to Search Engine Journal. No official reports on that test were ever announced.
