This week I covered the monthly Google Webmaster report, so catch up on the past month there. It was Google I/O this week, so a lot of new stuff came out. Google may have done an algorithm update around May 9th. GoogleBot is now on the latest version of Chrome and will stay that way, which is awesome big news for the SEO world. I go through what it means in detail in this video. Google launched how-to and FAQ markup, which is upsetting to many SEOs. Google Search Console is testing a new Speed Report. Google Code lab added single page apps and dynamic rendering support. Google showed off some new image search features including higher resolution images, swipe up to navigate and 3D images. Google top stories is getting full feature support with podcasts and story timelines. Google added 3D images to search with AR support. Audio podcasts are now in search and it should search the audio itself. Google tested out a weird feature to show irrelevant search results. Google’s John Mueller said SEO contests are useless, a waste of time and a spam fest. Google said learning about information retrieval is useful to SEOs. Google My Business reporting is buggy but they are testing a new dashboard. And make sure to check out the new How Google News Works portal, it is full of information. That was this past week in search at the Search Engine Roundtable.
