1 min pitch for what you are doing now?
I focus on search engine marketing, specifically Google. I help businesses get more leads by driving traffic from both search engine optimization (organic) and Adwords (pay per click)
How were the last 12 months, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?
It’s been pretty good, at the start of the year I needed to “eat my own dog food” more. It’s like that saying, the cobbler always has the worst pair of shoes (I’m a fan of the Cliché’s) The problem I have is that when I work on my own marketing, I’m not getting paid, whereas when I work on a clients campaign I’m getting paid, which is a lot more appealing. Because of this my own marketing slipped a little. So at the start of the year I made a vow to work on my own stuff as well and try to publish great content. There is so many companies in this industry, that still get their clients through cold calls from smooth talking sales people, who don’t care about the results, just abut getting the sale so they can get their commission. But if they are so good at digital marketing, why are they picking up the phone. Wouldn’t they get all their clients from what they say they can do if they were so good at it? So with this in mind I’ve made a vow that any new clients that find me will either be through referral or through my own digital marketing efforts. It’s been working well so far.
What are your plans for the future?
Because of all the noise (and frankly the bullshit) I want to educate my customers (and non-customers too) so in the coming weeks I’ll be launching 2 free training mini series, one for Google Adwords and one for search engine optimization. I believe that the key to success is in the content. I’ll either empower people to get better at both PPC and SEO, or else they won’t have enough time to do it themselves and will hire me!
