How to Use Instagram’s New Food Delivery & Gift Card Stickers


Supporting the small businesses you love just got easier thanks to Instagram!

Today, the company announced that business and creator accounts can now include stickers in their stories that direct people to a website where they can order food delivery or buy gift cards.

When a user sees a gift card or food order sticker, they’ll be able to tap to make a purchase through a partner site. 

Here’s everything you need to know about Instagram’s new food delivery and gift card stickers:

Supporting Small Businesses During COVID-19

Lockdown life has been hard for just about everyone, but small businesses are particularly vulnerable right now.

From forced closures to company-wide layoffs, small- and medium-sized businesses around the world are facing immense challenges during the COVID‑19 crisis. 

If there was ever a time to support these businesses and business owners, it’s now. And luckily, Instagram is making that easier to do!

According to an announcement made earlier today, businesses can now include stickers that direct people to a website where they can buy gift cards, order food, and donate to fundraisers. 

Gift cards and food orders for delivery and takeout are available in the US and Canada starting today (just in time for National Takeout day!) and will roll out globally in the coming weeks. Fundraisers will be coming at a later date, according to Instagram.

How to Use Instagram’s New Food Delivery & Gift Card Stickers

To share a gift card, food order, or fundraiser stickers on Instagram Stories, just create a story as normal, open the stickers tray, and add one to your story — it’s as simple as can be! 

You also have the option of adding these features as buttons on your Instagram profile.

To do this, head to your profile, tap Edit Profile, and then tap Action Buttons.

Here, you can select the type of Action Button you’d like to add to your profile.

 

Depending on the Action Button you selected, you can set up links to your preferred delivery partner (like ChowNow, DoorDash, and more), add gift cards also via a third-party (currently, you can only use Kabbage, Raise, Yiftee, and Square), and share fundraisers through Facebook.

When a user sees a gift card or food order sticker/button, they’ll be able to tap it and make a purchase through your parter’s site.
