iPhone 12 will go full screen with no notch

The iPhone X introduced the “notch” to the world. It could be argued that it was the Essential Phone that first released a phone with a notch but it was a tear-drop styled which barely took any space. However, the iPhone X added a huge horizontal notch which made sense as it’s used to house the FaceID mechanism.

Apple on many occasions turns into a trend creator: other manufacturers start taking design cues from the company. The same thing happened with the notch, many Android smartphone manufacturers started packing a huge notch on the top of the phone even though the phones did not need that much amount of “notch area”.

Android phones don’t use sophisticated face recognition mechanism but rather rely on the camera or just use the fingerprint reader. It took awhile for the Android manufacturers to realize that they don’t actually need to use a big-sized notch, so they introduced the “tear drop” notch which can been found on majority of the phones out in the world.

So the big news here is that, with the next year’s iPhone, Apple will kill the notch in favour of a very thin bezel on the top. According to a leakster with great track record Ben Gaskin, Apple will find ways to miniaturize the FaceID components and pack them in an almost impossibly thin bezel on the top of the phone. He also adds that, the front camera will packed along with the FaceID components as well.

The news should be taken with a grain of salt because usually miniaturizing a camera module leads to bad quality images as the sensor will be able to take less amount of light-in. The bigger the camera sensor, the better the chances of taking better pictures, however the miniaturizing of the FaceID components is believable.
