Kelsea gets her love of music from her Puerto Rican grandfather. He was in a band, sang mariachi and even wrote a book of songs. Her grandfather was diagnosed with liver cancer and passed away before seeing Kelsea on “The Voice” stage. Through this hardship, Kelsea stayed focused on school, graduated with excellent grades and was awarded a scholarship to Stony Brook University in New York. Kelsea graduated in three years with a degree in psychology and sociology, and now she’s ready to fully embrace her music.
Music has served as the only constant in Sharane’s turbulent upbringing. At 10, Sharane was adopted by an older cousin while her twin sister was adopted by an outside family member. Sharane’s adoptive mom was soon diagnosed with breast cancer – a battle she continues to fight today. The violin became an escape for Sharane during these difficult times. It wasn’t until high school gospel choir that Sharane and her sister were finally reunited. After graduation, Sharane began traveling with bands that perform at weddings, corporate events and private parties all over the country.

The four-time Emmy Award-winning “The Voice” returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the blockbuster vocal competition show’s new season. Superstar singer-songwriter Clarkson makes her debut as a coach this season, with Season 12-winning coach and musical icon Keys taking a red chair alongside the show’s returning coaches, Levine and Shelton, and host Carson Daly.
At the end of the battle rounds, only the strongest members of each coach’s roster remain and proceed to the knockout rounds. Here, the artists will be paired against a teammate once more, but this time they will select their own songs to perform individually while their direct competitor watches and waits. They are vying for their coach’s confidence and decision to take them to the final and crucial round before the live shows, the playoffs.
