On The Voice, Kyla Jade closed out the night with an amazing rendition of “One Night Only” by Jennifer Hudson for her Top 12 performance. Kyla noted that she did background for Jennifer and was nervous to tackle her song. Kyla got a call from J-Hud who said that she would be cheering her on in the competition.

All the coaches gave her a standing ovation. Blake Shelton said that J-Hud was just texting him 10 minutes ago as she was excited for Kyla’s performance. Blake said on behalf of J-Hud and him, “welcome to the front of the stage.” Blake said to start mowing them down as this is Kyla’s time. Blake noted that America loves her and recognizes that she is not a background singer anymore.

Kyla’s voice was born in church and developed its power through performing in gospel choirs. After college, Kyla got her first big break when she joined the Nashville Super Choir on “Bobby Jones Gospel,” the longest running gospel show on BET. After nine years of traveling with the show, Kyla took some time off to care for family. Kyla feared it would be difficult to get back into the music scene until a friend asked her to audition as a background vocalist for Jennifer Hudson. Today, Hudson supports Kyla, pushes her and has been a huge motivator for Kyla to audition for “The Voice.”

These artists will each perform a new song that represents why they should earn the save. America will then have the opportunity to save their favorite performer by tweeting out #VoiceSave along with the artist’s name. The singers with the lowest number of votes will be sent home each week. In the end, one will be named “The Voice” and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract.
