LinkedIn To Support Native Video Uploads

If you’re like me and follow marketing news, you probably heard some rumors about native video support for LinkedIn (we’ve talked before about other video options like Instagram Stories). While LinkedIn has made no formal announcement regarding video availability, sources have been providing some information about what we can expect.

  1. The metrics provided for videos will include views, shares, likes, and so on, but it will also incorporate information about the users who watch the videos – specifically, employer and job title.
  2. That’s right. LinkedIn will give you actionable data regarding the users who watch your video.

  3. You can only upload video via the mobile app in the same way that you would share a photo. Here’s SumAll’s Head of Marketing’s mobile LinkedIn post options:
  4. Only a small subset of LinkedIn users have been turned on, and it could be months before it is fully supported.
  5. Videos can be up to 10 minutes long.
  6. Like with Facebook, once your video has been watched for three seconds, LinkedIn will count that as a view.
  7. Videos automatically play in a user’s feed with the sound off, and users can disable the auto feature via their account settings.

That’s all we know now, but we are keeping our ears open for any more updates. Share with us in the comments what you’d like to see LinkedIn develop!
