Good morning, Loveland! You might have noticed the photo at the top of this page, promising a new shop in downtown Loveland. We’ll get to that in a moment. First, the weather.
Warming up
Looks like we’ll be breaking out of winter’s icy grip soon, with highs of near 50 degrees predicted for Thursday and Friday. But first, the National Weather Service says we will see a high of near 39 degrees today with about a 30 percent of snow and freezing rain after 11 p.m. The overnight low should be in the 20s, not below zero, which will be a welcome change.
What’s new
Rocky Mountain Cyclery at 504 N. Garfield Ave. has closed, and The Extra Mile will soon take its place. The consignment shop will sell new and used outdoor gear, clothing and bicycles. Watch for Hans Peter’s story in our Outpost section tomorrow for the details.
Gas prices
Yeah, they’re still rising. The weekly email from the fuel-price experts at Gasbuddy.com shows that the average for a gallon of regular gasoline in Fort Collins rose 3.6 cents in the past week, to an average of $2.15 on Sunday.
That’s 19.3 cents higher than a month ago, Gasbuddy says, but still 19.5 cents cheaper than a year ago.
Automotive longevity
Are you and your vehicle inseparable? How many miles have you traveled together? A recent study by iSeeCars, an online used-car dealership, tells us which models of cars are most likely to still be rolling with 200,000 miles on their odometers, plus the cities with the highest percentage of 200,000-plus vehicles on the road.
The longest-lasting cars nationwide:
1) Toyota Sequoia, with 8 percent of the Sequoias on the road carrying 200k miles or more.
2) Chevrolet Suburban, 6.5 percent.
3) Toyota 4Runner, 6.4 percent.
4) Toyota Highlander Hybrid, 6.2 percent.
5) GMC Yukon XL, 5.4 percent.
By the way, the national average of cars with 200,000 miles or more is just 0.8 percent.
And the cities:
1) Indianapolis, Ind., and Birmingham, Ala., tied with 2.3 percent of their vehicles over 200,000 miles.

3) Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo, Mich., 2.1 percent.
And, at No. 13, Denver, with 1.6 percent.
