On American Idol, Maddie Poppe sang and performed a captivating cover of Sheryl Crow’s “If It Makes You Happy” for her second song of the night. The contestants were choosing songs from the year that they were born. Nick Jonas served as the mentor for the performance.
Lionel Ritchie said it is amazing what a hair style can do. Lionel said that Maddie could be anyone and that she is owning herself. Lionel said to know you are powerful in your own voice and have a future in this business. Katy Perry said that it is so exciting to see Maddie play like a girl. Katy said that Maddie holds her own every time she picks up an instrument. Katy called her a true artist.
Luke Bryan said that Maddie sits down on a piano and then an electric guitar. Luke said that Maddie shows them so many things.
