Last of the night is Maddie Zahm, 19, who performed and played Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” on American Idol for her audition. Maddie, from Boise, Idaho, works with special needs people and her best friend is Marcus who joined her for her audition. Maddie talked about gaining a lot of weight in high school when she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormone imbalance.
Maddie says the weight gain hurt her confidence, so much so that she stopped singing in front of people. But when she became a music teacher and started working with kids with autism, she says, ‘It changed my life” and gave her the confidence to sing again.
Maddie also sang with Marcus following her audition. Lionel Richie said she has great potential. Luke Bryan said to let it fly out as she gets a little timid. Katy Perry loved the performance. All judges gave her a “Yes” and sent her off to Hollywood.
