Malia Obama being a “prime suspect” in a Tide Pods prank at Harvard University in which 2 people were killed is fake news. There is no truth to a report that former President Barack Obama’s oldest daughter was involved in a college prank gone bad and that she was not the prime suspect by Boston police in the deaths of two people. Obama has been the subject of many fake news, tweets, photographs and memes. This is just another one in a long list of them.
Where did this fake news originate? The Ladies of Liberty published the fake news article on Feb. 9, 2018, reporting that Malia Obama was now a “person of interest” of two Harvard undergrads after they were killed in a Tide Pods prank gone badly. You can read the fake news below.
Malia Obama is officially a “person of interest” in the deaths of two Harvard undergrads. The two young girls, who police say were the “victims of a cruel prank gone horribly wrong,” died is a kiddie pool filled with broken Tide Pods.
Brent Nugent, who witnessed the prank, said:
“The crowd of kids keeping us back weren’t the types you mess with. Their parents are billionaires, Senators and…even a President.”
Asked if he was referring to Malia Obama, he replied, “Men in suits confiscated our cell phones and gave them back with today’s data wiped clean.” They may have taken the footage, but the police aren’t backing down. Cambridge Police Chief Sandy Battifston said there’s no way those responsible won’t see justice:
“They immersed those poor kids in ice-cold laundry detergent on the quad in February. They had no clothes on and they were given “Big Gulp” straws to breathe. The ME doesn’t know exactly what went wrong, but those kids suffered excruciating deaths. They would have been awake and aware for at least the first three minutes. Then it was too late.”
However, there is no truth to the above story. What is the problem with the story to make it false? For one thing, there was no legitimate news coverage of this prank gone bad being covered. Additionally, there is no “Cambridge Police Chief Sandy Battifston” but rather Dr. Branville Bard, Jr. became the City of Cambridge Police Department’s fourth Police Commissioner in August 2017.
Previously, Obama and her boyfriend were accused by a fake news site of having been busted while streaking naked on Harvard’s campus. However, that fake news article was also easily debunked.
