Mark Hamill dead is a celebrity death hoax. There is no truth to rumors that the Star Wars actor had died. The actor himself addressed the death rumor on his Twitter account. In doing so, Hamill scared the crap out of some of his fans who mistakenly took it as a real death notice before reading further into the post. Hamill reassured fans that social media reports of his death were premature.

The Star Wars icon posted on his Twitter account that he was alive and well with a little joke: “HAMILL DIES: Much of Nation Mourns GOP: Meh #DontRushMe.” He included the typical black and white photograph of himself that upon first glance signals a death notice.

Fear not Star Wars fans as Hamill is still very much alive and criticizing people like President Donald Trump and those in the GOP. Hamill recently starred in Star Wars: “The Last Jedi,” in which many critics and fans said he gave his best performance yet as the beloved sci-fi hero. “The Last Jedi” earned $618 million in the domestic box office and earned a $1.325 billion worldwide gross.

Here are some reactions on social media about Hamill’s prank over a celebrity death hoax.

This is not the first time that Hamill has been the subject of a death hoax.

Hamill responded to a parody account by calming his fans and joking, “don’t rush me, already!” The Twitter account “@SkyNiews” tweeted, “BREAKING: Mark Hamill has passed away age 65, most notable for his role in Star Wars as Luke Skywalker.” Accompanying the message was a memorial photo showing the actor with “1951-2017” designated on the picture. But “@SkyNiews,” despite appearances, is NOT Sky News, the authentic U.K. news outlet.

The Last Jedi is written and directed by Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcoming back cast members Hamill, the late Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.
