Mike Marko of IM Consultant Services has just released a new post where he outlines various SEO tips and tricks for business owners. According to Marko, he wrote the post with a particular type of reader in mind. He says that his article is meant for those who understand the importance of SEO or search engine optimization for business but also have a sense of its complexity. The SEO tips and tricks he provides in the article are meant to help such business owners cut away some of the complication in SEO.
“It’s impossible to run a business without doing SEO for it nowadays,” Marko claims. “But SEO isn’t exactly the easiest thing to learn. Many business owners also have zero experience with it. In spite of that, they shouldn’t lose heart. There are still elements of SEO that are very beginner-friendly. There are also a few tips and tricks to it that they can use to make things easier for themselves. Those are the tips and tricks I’ve given them in this article.”
Marko starts his list of tips and tricks with advice on how business owners can find and use keywords for their optimization. Marko says this had to be the first of his tips on SEO for beginners because SEO is patently impossible without keyword research. He identifies keyword research as integral to processes such as link building, content marketing, on-page optimization, and so on. He also advises his readers to use keyword research in order to reach their target audience.
Marko provides a list of tools in his article that he believes readers can use for easy keyword research. He begins with the Google keyword planner and goes all the way to paid tools such as Ahrefs. He then follows up with the next of his SEO optimization tips, which is to use the keywords produced by the keyword research stage to organize on-page SEO efforts. For example, he advises his readers to use the keywords they have found in parts of their webpages like the page title, meta description, headings, image alt tags, and content.
Marko makes a point of reminding readers not to overuse their keywords, however. He says this is another of the SEO tips and tricks that beginners should remember.
“Backtrack to ten or so years ago and it wouldn’t have been a problem,” says Marko. “But Google has since updated its algorithm to be on guard for overuse of keywords. It’s called keyword stuffing, and it’s something that can get your website penalized if it’s bad enough to look spammy.”
Keyword stuffing is an example of the sort of thing Marko advises readers to steer clear of in his next SEO tip. Over-optimization, according to Marko, is a serious pitfall for beginners. They do things like keyword stuffing or header tag stuffing in an effort to pander to search engines. Unfortunately for them, most search engines are now as concerned with content as the users themselves.
These sorts of techniques are best avoided, according to Marko. The same goes for “sneaky redirects”, which lead search engine users to webpages other than what they expect. He also advises his readers not to stuff keywords into meta tags and not to link to bad neighborhoods. In Marko’s estimation, such SEO techniques can only lead to poor results and possibly Google penalties.
“Trying to ‘game’ a search engine is never a good idea,” says Marko. “Yet a lot of beginners make the mistake of trying it because they think it’s a quick fix to their problems. Guess what, it’s not. It’s actually just going to compound their problems further, maybe even to the point where they’ll have to spend literal years trying to fix them afterwards.”
Marko advises his readers to stick to quality-focused SEO tips and tricks in their efforts. For example, he advocates the use of a lot of images in content, because people often appreciate it. He also tells his readers to use the alt text attribute in their site images so that search engines can make sense of their visual content.
He also tells readers that backlink building should be something they do for their business’s SEO. He cautions that they should focus only on high-quality backlinks that actually support their authority in their niche, however. One of the best ways to do this is his final SEO tip — building high-quality content. According to Marko, producing great content will always be one of the building blocks of great SEO, which is why business owners need to focus on putting out content that’s not only valuable but original. The more original the content, the better, because its uniqueness improves the boost it can give to a site’s SEO.
