Monroe launches redesigned town website that is viewable on mobile devices | Monroe

MONROE – After a little more than a week of making tweaks while live, the township announced the official launch of its new website on Monday.

Over the course of the last several days, community members who visited the site would have seen many of the changes since the redesigned website became active, though still being updated.

According to the township release announcing the redesigned website, it features “streamlined navigation and enhanced functionality,” and also mobile-friendly.

“The new website needed a refresh in order to make information easier to find in a reader-friendly format,” the township’s Public Information Office said on Tuesday. “With today’s technology, it is also needed to be accessible via mobile devices and the old site did not have that capability.”

The new features include large icons for easy viewing, intuitive navigation for more direct access to some of the township’s most commonly searched topics, improved searchability for more accurate delivery, upgraded search engine optimization for more direct results and links to commonly used local, county and state pages.

“We are excited to present a new virtual face for Monroe Township via this visually pleasing and easy-to-navigate site,” Mayor Gerald Tamburro said in the statement. “Our residents and businesses now will have easy access to the latest township news and information while maintaining the ability to conduct standard transactions such as making payments and downloading forms and applications.”

The redesign was handled by Jaffe Communications through its contract with the municipal government, the township’s Public Information Office said.

The website is part of the township’s efforts to improve communication with the community members. Part of that plan included the launching of a monthly e-newsletter as well as continuing to use the triannual print newsletter, Monroe TV and the township’s official Facebook page.

“We developed the e-newsletter for distribution on a monthly basis to keep residents and stakeholders informed with timely information in the space between distribution of the print Monroe News three times per year,” the Public Information Office said.
