The Alps are often the subjects of stunning landscape photos, but a recent image of the mountain range has two additional beauties to look at.
NASA has revealed an incredible photo of the moon and Jupiter in the skies over the Alps.
The stunning image was taken by photographer Giorgia Hofer, and has been featured as NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day.
NASA explained: “When hiking a high mountain pass in northern Italy three weeks ago, a conjunction between our Moon and the distant planet Jupiter was visible as both rose together in the southwest after sunset.
“The picturesque mountains in the distance are Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Three Peaks of Lavaredo), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and three of the best known mountain peaks in Italy, the Dolomites, and the entire Alps.”
The foreground of the photo features Locatelli Hut, a famous stop for tired hikers.

Meanwhile, the moon and Jupiter feature in the centre of the photo, and Saturn makes an appearance on the top left.
Amazingly, the entire scene was captured on a single 8-second exposure.
NASA added: “Jupiter and Saturn will remain prominent in the western sky after sunset this month, while the Moon, in its monthly orbit around the Earth, will pass near Jupiter again in about four days.”
