Android 10 has been out for a few weeks now and as per usual the manufacturers with the least intrusive skins are beginning to roll it out to their latest devices. Tonight it is OnePlus’ turn with them announcing on their website that the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro will begin to receive Google’s latest.
OnePlus’ version of Android, OxygenOS, will have version 10 begin to roll out to users starting now. The new update brings not only Google’s Android 10 goodies but OnePlus’ enhancements on top. The changelog as listed by OnePlus are:
- System
- Upgraded to Android 10
- Brand new UI design
- Enhanced location permissions for privacy
- New customisation feature in Settings allowing you to choose icon shapes to be displayed in the Quick Settings
- Full Screen Gestures
- Added inward swipes from the left or right edge of the screen to go back
- Added a bottom navigation bar to allow switching left or right for recent apps
- Game Space
- New Game Space feature now joins all your favourite games in one place for easier access and better gaming experience
- Smart display
- Intelligent info based on specific times, locations and events for Ambient Display (Settings – Display – Ambient Display – Smart Display)
- Message
- Now possible to block spam by keywords for Message (Messages – Spam – Settings -Blocking settings)
Some of OnePlus’ best enhancements include even more customisations possible within the settings including tuning the horizontal notification light settings to your liking, a new game space for those who want to optimise game play. The roll out is apparently going to be a very cautious staged roll out today with a broader roll out in the following days to make sure there are “no critical bugs”. At this stage we are yet to receive the update on the Ausdroid OnePlus 7 Pro and even the OxygenOS updater app does not have the update available just yet.
The update is also being planned for the OnePlus 5/5T and OnePlus 6/6T in the coming weeks and months so keep an eye out for that if you have one of those phones.
Is it possible that the best version of Android available just got even better? If you have a OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro let us know what you think once you receive it.
