When the Christmas adverts start on the telly, it can only mean one thing – the end of the year is fast approaching.
It’s often a time to reflect on progress and achievements and it’s important not to get stressed out if you feel you are not where you’d like to be. Be patient, progress take time.
No Quick Fixes
Losing 7lbs overnight or running a 5k after week 1 of Couch to 5k is not going to happen. And neither is it realistic.
Progress takes time and we must be patient. Keep track of your foods and measurements, they can be, and are, a great motivator – here are 4 things that can also help to keep you motivated for the rest of the year.
One Step At A Time
Break down your goal into smaller milestones if you feel it is out of reach. You’ll feel great as hit each milestone, and remember to celebrate all the wins.
Don’t Expect Too Much
Don’t put unhealthy expectations on yourself. A healthy weight loss between one to two pounds per week and is more sustainable than a stone in one week.
What’s Your Why?
As well as looking back on your progress, remind yourself why you are doing this. To feel better. Healthier. Have more energy. Whatever your reason, own it.
Be Kind To Yourself
Recognise and accept that we all have slip ups from time to time. Going around beating yourself up and being your own worst critic won’t help you reach your goal any quicker. Be kind to yourself.
What do you do to keep yourself motivated?
‘Before & After’ photos are also great for seeing your progress. If you are conscious of taking photos, remember you don’t have to share them with anyone else. They’re just for you!
